Orange County's Chain Reaction got a taste of sweat, angst and Death Metal

On October 3rd 2009 Through the Eyes of the Dead immersed its audience into a realm tangible for the eyes and gripping to the vocal chords. With technical difficulties aside, Orange County was rudely awakened by the roaring sound echoing through the tiny walls of the all age’s venue Chain Reaction.

The line to get in stretched across the parking lot was a sight for sore eyes, Playing with Despised Icon, ABACABB and Molotov Solution, I was luckily second to last to get a ticket to witness the monstrosity that is Through the Eyes of the Dead. Once inside the vehemence was loud and clear.

The venue growled and gnarled at the impatience to get the show started. Once Through the Eyes of the Dead hit the stage, the journey was worth the wait. The energy rising from its band members was contagious, from the first note; the crowd knew what it was in for. The call and response from the band to the crowd was gripping and fearless. No one held back the anxiety that was infused in immense amounts to the veins of the vicious fans. What a relief that the human soul still has a pocket for raw emotion and complete surrender.

Through the Eyes of the Dead Biography

Originally from Florence South Carolina, formed in 2003 after the break-up of a previous group, Tell Her I Said Goodbye; Through the Eyes of the Dead transcends a genre of music that is quickly judged and commercially arranged. With influences like Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse their wicked sound injects itself and leaves and makes an addict of its listeners almost immediately.

With songs like Malice and Pull the Trigger, Through the Eyes of the Dead has denied conformity and embraced an attack on present metal. Always ever-changing and on frequent tour dates, the feverish with anxiety band members sore through their sets with grace and brutality. With members come and gone, the music stays engulfed with integrity and magnified force.
